Rolloff Dumpster Frequently Asked Questions

How does your service work?

Call us at (703) 599-1036 to schedule a dumpster delivery. We will get the drop off address, billing information, and details about your requirements for the dumpster. Most customers pay with a credit card. We charge your credit card when you place the order, once we confirm your order on our schedule. Our driver will be at your location as close to the scheduled drop off time as we can. The more notice you give us, the better service we can give you. It is common for us to make same day deliveries at no extra charge to you - as long as we have dumpsters available.

How do I know what size dumpster I need?

Selection of dumpster sizes will depend on the amount of debris you will generate. A 15 yard dumpster, our most popular size, will hold 15 cubic yards of waste. If you fill up your dumpster and need more, we can swap out the full dumpster for an empty dumpster for a discounted charge. If you have questions about what size you need, just call and ask us.

What can I put in the dumpster?

Dumpsters are for solid non-hazardous waste such as construction debris or household renovation or clean outs debris.

What items are not allowed in the dumpster?

The following list includes some items that may not be placed in the dumpsters. If you are unsure about the status of a particular item of waste, please call us or your local EPA. The following list includes common excluded items, however, any questionable item must be verified for junk removal service. Such prohibited items include: hazardous waste, medical waste, industrial waste, chemical items, oil filters, herbicides, pesticides, radioactive items, solvents, paint, flammable liquids, aerosol cans, propane tanks, motor oil, transmission oil, lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, oil filters, contaminated oils, antifreeze, petroleum-contaminated soil/lead paint chips, tires, batteries, computers, monitors, televisions, microwaves, fluorescent tubes, medical waste, asbestos, animals, barrels, all liquids. All materials placed within the dumpster must not exceed the height - you cannot have anything sticking out.

Certain items such as tires, batteries, and cans of paint can be picked up with your dumpster for an extra fee. Please ask us for details.

Do I need to be present for the dumpster pickup and delivery?

You must provide clear access to the dumpster and the ability to have enough room to remove it - meaning a clear path for the rolloff dumpster to be hauled away. Most customers want themselves or a job foreman to be present when we deliver the dumpster, but if you are not going to be there, just let us know. We will place the dumpster where we understood you to say you wanted the dumpster.

Can the dumpster be placed on my street?

We will place the dumpster wherever you tell us to put it. If we put it on the street, we will need about three times the length of the dumpster - a total of 45 feet to be clear so we can "parallel park" the truck and dumpster and then get the truck back out.

Will the dumpster damage my land or driveway?

Dumpsters are designed not to cause damage to a typical asphalt or concrete driveway. A dumpster is heavy and will leave an indentation on grass or dirt. If you are concerned we recommend placing plywood beneath the dumpster to help avoid any potential damage. We assume no liability for damage incurred by the placement of the dumpster.

How much waste can be placed in the dumpster?

You can typically fill your dumpster to the top and within the tonnage allowance. Tonnage allowances are typically calculated based on average weight of waste within a dumpster filled to the top. Concrete waste from a construction site typically can only be filled to half way with the dumpster due to weight allowances. Extra heavy waste or waste filled beyond the top of the dumpster may incur additional fees.

Will I be billed for extra tonnage?

We specify a weight tonnage allowance for all rentals based on your dumpster size or other conditions of your contract. Any tonnage over that limit will typically incur an additional fee. Tonnage overages are rounded up to the nearest quarter ton. You are billed when you order your dumpster, if you have overages you will be billed a second time for the overages.

Do you accept Hazardous / Medical Waste?

You cannot place any hazardous materials or medical waste within the dumpsters. For disposal of hazardous or medical waste, please contact your local EPA for specific guidelines and regulations.

Do you offer 24 hour service?

Our sales department is available seven days a week, including holidays up until 11 PM. If you have a special need after that time please call and leave a message. Someone will get back to you as soon as possible. We can deliver to you 24 hours; in some cases there may be an extra fee for after hours delivery.

Can I order a dumpster on Sunday or holidays?

Yes, we deliver on weekends and holidays and you can order on weekends and holidays as well.

How long can I keep the dumpster rental?

You can keep the dumpster for as long as you need it. Most dumpsters are available for seven days without extra charges. For longer than seven days there is a charge of $4 per day, up to 28 days. If you need a dumpster longer than that please discuss your requirements with us and we will price it for you.

What if the driver comes to remove the dumpster, but I am not finished?

If you need to keep your dumpster past the pickup date, please try to tell us before we send the driver out to get it. We want to work with you on this. Extra days are billed at $4/day. Gas and time is expensive. There is a $100 turn-away charge you may incur if the driver comes to pick up your dumpster and you do not allow him to take it. If you need another dumpster we can bring one out and swap them for you.

What do I do if I need extra hauls?

If your dumpster is full and you need another one, just call us. We can swap the full dumpster for an empty one, often at a discounted rate since we are only making one trip. Try to give us twenty-four hours notice, but we can often swap dumpsters on just a few hours notice.
